There are pros and cons to both DIY and Outsourcing.
It boils down to what you value more – Expertise and Time or Funds.
And there are no right or wrong answers here.
It depends on where you are in your business and whether or not you have the financial resources to fund this activity
When did I start outsourcing?
I was a firm believer in doing everything on my own until I realized that as I was trying to DIY tasks that I was not good at, it was taking me away from my core genius and the tasks that would move the needle for me. I also started to realize that this was a self-sabotaging technique and how I procrastinated.
This clicked for me when I heard Russell Brunson say that it would take you 20 hours to do a difficult task that a professional could do in 2 hours. I finally hired someone to do my youtube editing for a website I was flipping and I was amazed. The task that took me half a day was done in $20, and he did it so much better than I ever could. As a busy mom of 2 little ones, my time is more precious than anything else. Once I started outsourcing, I did not look back. This has helped me grow my business by leaps and bounds
Why should you outsource?
You can focus on your income generating activities
It will buy you back an immense amount of time. One of the things I like to do is calculate how long it is taking me to do something and the return I am getting from it. If my hourly rate is lower than what I make with my clients, it goes on my outsource list. I also like to journal on why I am doing this non-expert task myself. Is this a procrastination habit that is giving me a false sense of accomplishment? And am I putting off my actual work because of myunderlying limiting beliefs?
Embodiment of your future self
Law of attraction brings you not what you think, but who you are being. Want to be an 8 figure entrepreneur? Time to start thinking like one. I always ask myself the question, who would I be if I were an eight-figure entrepreneur? That woman would not be DIYing things – she is a boss babe that would be outsourcing things so she could focus on her income generating activities.
However, this comes with a caveat: your business should be making enough money, where you have enough funds on the side in order to outsource the website work. If you don’t have those funds, then I would personally focus on bringing those kinds of funds through your business with your core genius, and then investing it in someone else to do the work for you.
Your website will be done in the right way
Now, I’m assuming that whoever you hire has a deep SEO knowledge because a pretty website will not bring you the returns you are looking for. A website can be ugly, but as long as SEO optimized, it will help you rank and bring in traffic. Of course, attractiveness is a factor, but SEO is a bigger factor because there is little point in having a pretty website that’s not ranking on Google. It is not going to make that big of a difference.
It will actually help you show up on the Google Search Results
Doing this on your own without SEO knowledge will take years for you to show up on Google. When you hire an SEO specialist to design your website, your SEO will go beyond just the Yoast plugin.
Anyone who has done websites on their own knows that there is an SEO component to websites, and they may start filling out some of that SEO pieces or may download Yoast plugin. Please know that Yoast is just 5% or 10% of your SEO. It is nothing compared to all the work that needs to be done for SEO, and unless you decide to learn it for yourself, or hire someone else to do it for you. It is going to be a challenge for you to rank.
Off note, I do not even use Yoast. There are better plugins out there that do more than what Yoast does.
Correct setup of the directories and the pages
There is certain way that an expert will be able to set up your website in terms of the structure and the sitemap, that will make your website more recognizable to Google. And this is where hiring someone else comes into play, because they will know exactly how to structure things, and they will be able to change certain built in templates within your WordPress site in order to do it for you.
Bloated site with too many plugins and slow themes
A beginner could end up using an attractive, yet slow theme. A site also becomes bloated because of all the plugins that a person starts downloading. Someone who is non-technical may fall into the trap of using too many unnecessary plugins. That will make a site super slow.
When a site is slow the user experience goes down. Not only is this bad for Google, but this is also bad for you, because was your user opens the website, they will close it because they will not have the patience for it to load. This is worse if you are working hard to funnel those visitors to your website.
When you have someone else doing it for you, they can put a different perspective on it and bring an outsider’s perspective. I have noticed that a lot of people who DIY their websites make it very wordy and try to put everything in there. This can confuse visitors and affect your conversions.
You could you do not have to outsource your website work here, but hiring a good copywriter, or looking at other people’s website, and what successful entrepreneurs are doing can be very beneficial here.
So what is the bottom line?
It goes without saying that there are many pros to outsourcing your website work to someone else. It helps you rank on Google and gets your passive, organic traffic. SEO can become complex and doing it on your own can end up effective you negatively. Having keyword stuffed posts and over-optimized titles can actually incur Google penalties.
